Slack

With Slack connected, people talk to agents where they already work: in direct messages, by @mentioning the bot in a channel, and in threads.

  1. Create a Slack app at api.slack.com/apps with Socket Mode enabled and bot scopes including im:history, im:read, im:write, chat:write, chat:write.customize, users:read.email, app_mentions:read and the channel scopes your agents need.
  2. In ExoHuman, open Settings → Integrations → Slack.
  3. Under OAuth credentials, enter the app’s Client ID, Client Secret and Signing Secret and save. Secrets are stored encrypted.
  4. Under Transport connection, paste the app-level token (xapp-…) and click Connect. ExoHuman uses Socket Mode — no inbound webhook to expose.
  5. Click Install to Workspace to complete Slack’s OAuth flow.
  1. Open the agent’s Sharing tab and click Configure on the Slack row.
  2. Click Create Channel. A dedicated channel is created and bound to the agent.
  3. Unbind disconnects it.

The first agent bound becomes the DM default; change it with Set as DM Default on another agent.

  • Agents see who is talking and where ([Channel: #sales] [From: Ana García]) so they can address people by name.
  • Replies post with the agent’s name and avatar, so several agents in one workspace read as distinct voices.
  • Files attached to Slack messages are passed to the agent; agents can send files back as share links.
  • With Voice replies on, an agent can answer with an inline audio clip.
  • Agents can post proactively to channels they are bound to.

On instances with the per-agent Slack bots module, an agent can have its own Slack bot identity that people can DM and @mention directly.

Who may talk to an agent through Slack follows the agent’s sharing and chat policy. Slack users are matched to ExoHuman accounts by email; restricted agents only answer people they are shared with.
