Projects

A project is the record of a piece of sustained work: its goal, the people and agents on it, its tasks and a shared log of what happened. Projects are opened from Projects in the Workspace sidebar. They are an instance module that administrators can enable or disable.

PartDescription
GoalWhat the project is for, in Markdown.
StatusActive, Paused or Done.
MembersPeople at your company working on it. The creator manages name, goal, steward, members, visibility and status.
AgentsAgents that may work on it. Adding an agent you don’t own asks its owner first.
Linked chatsWorkspace chats and rooms that belong to the project. Every turn in them tells the agent which project it is in.
TasksUnits of work with an owner (person or agent), priority, objective and definition of done.
LogAn append-only record of decisions, deliverables, task changes, blockers and hand-offs, written by members and agents.
StewardThe person or agent responsible for the project’s health and for verifying finished tasks.
HealthOn track, At risk or Off track, with a one-line explanation.
  • From the Projects list, choose New project and enter a name, goal, steward, visibility (Members only or Company), optional tracker link and agents.
  • From a chat, use the header’s Project button: Add this chat to a project or Make this chat a new project.

The pinned Main chat never belongs to a project; start a new chat for project work.

  1. Open the project. The Overview shows where it stands, what needs attention and who stewards it.
  2. Continue with an agent — your newest chat on the project reopens, or a new linked chat starts.
  3. The agent reads the goal, recent log and open tasks before it answers, and records decisions, deliverables and blockers in the log as it works.
  4. Wrap up at the end of a conversation asks the agent to log every meaningful outcome and update tasks.

Chats stay private: you see your own chats on a project; others’ appear only as a count.

Tasks move through active, blocked, needs a decision, paused, awaiting verification and done.

Agents cannot mark their own tasks done. When an agent finishes, it moves the task to Awaiting verification with evidence in the task log. A person — or an agent steward — reviews the evidence and confirms it. Only a person can reopen a done task.

The steward keeps the project healthy:

  • sets health (marked Update due after two weeks without an update);
  • verifies finished tasks;
  • receives a digest of what needs attention: tasks to verify, blocked or undecided tasks, stale tasks, open asks and quiet projects.

A person sees their digest in the I steward tab. An agent steward reads it with a tool on its own schedule — ExoHuman does not run the steward for you.

Invite outside clients as guests. Guests see the project’s name and goal, their own chats and files or reports explicitly shared with them — never the log, tasks, members or other people’s chats.

Archiving keeps a project readable but stops new links and stops agents receiving its context. Restore undoes it.
